Schiffli is from 30000 BC, connects us to our ancient roots

If you ask us how long in time does embroidery go? Well early embroidery can actually be traced back to 30000 BC. Archeological finds from this time period reveals fossilised remains of heavily hand stitched and decorated clothing.

When we come across such findings, it sparks a different connection we have with schiffli. It’s relevance is more of an ancestral to us, to our ancient roots.

Today’s embroidery looks a lot different from the embroidery of the past. Most contemporary embroidery is stitched with a computerised embroidery machine using patterns that are “digitised” with computer software.

While the style and technique of modern embroidery may be different, use of embroidery still remains the same. Embroidery has, and always will be, a popular way for people to decorate their homes and themselves with personalised brands and logos.
